From January 1st 2013, all Schools and Childcare providers are required to have a staff member trained in Asthma Management and Anaphylaxis Awareness immediately available at all times. Family Day Care providers must ensure that all staff are certified in both Asthma and Anaphylaxis. Refer to the Australian Children's Education & Care Quality Authority for details.

22282VIC Course in Emergency Asthma Management

This course covers the knowledge and skills to recognise the clinical manifestations of asthma and identify and respond to an asthma emergency.

Learn the facts about the symptoms and triggers of an asthma attack. Learn about the different classes of Asthma medication and the devices used to administer them. You will also receive materials to guide you in delivering asthma first aid and gain an understanding of workplace specific circumstances.

22300VIC Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis

This course provides the skills and knowledge necessary to recognise, treat and manage a severe life threatening allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) and the use of an adrenaline autoinjector.

Within this course you will cover:

  • Regulations and Definitions relating to Allergies and Anaphylaxis,
  • Common allergens
  • Signs and symptoms
  • Risk minimisation
  • Adrenalin autoinjectors
  • Anaphylaxis First Aid

Duration:

The combined Asthma and Anaphylaxis course is a three (3) hour course. All the material is covered in the training session, and in our attached First Aid Manual sent out during your booking confirmation.

Award:

You will receive a Nationally Recognised Certificate of Attainment, recognising your training. The certificate will list the following course codes;

Materials:

Within the class, you will have the opportunity to practice using the equipment used to deliver treatment for Asthma symptoms and Anaphylaxis. These include Asthma Puffers, spacers, and Adrenaline auto-injectors.
